THE DAINTREE RIVER
The aquatic adventures don’t end at the ocean; the Daintree River, one of the longest rivers on the Australian East Coast, is site of river cruises and exploratory trips guided by both naturalists and knowledgeable locals. Explorer Dalrymple said upon discovering this river, “no river in North Australia possesses surroundings combining so much of distant mountain grandeur with local beauty and wealth of vegetation.” The Daintree River is one of the best bird-watching sites in the country, attracting bird enthusiasts worldwide but it's the crocs that most people go there to see one in the wild.. CAPE TRIBULATION
The beautiful Cape Tribulation is a just a couple of hours and a ferry ride north of Port Douglas. Tours to the Cape give you the chance to spend the night in paradise – not an opportunity to be missed! Alternatively you can hire a car and be your own guide (4WD not required unless you plan to continue up to Cooktown). The road is yours.

WHITE WATER RAFTING PORT DOUGLAS
If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, look no further than Whitewater rafting. These tours take place on the Barron River, 50 minutes south of Port Douglas. Wonga beach, located 25 minutes drive North of Port Douglas is the site of a beautiful horse riding trail that follows the outline of the coast.
